Going to be doing a video soon going over the new GUNPRIMER products I recently add. I have heard alot of good thing and a few negative, so just want to do my own little review. What GUNPRIMER product would you like to see more in depth?
I bought the GUNPRIMER Gate Removal kit at YumaCon 2023; I was initially a bit skeptical (it's a pretty spendy set), but it's a massive quality-of-life improvement. The RASER glass file is probably the most important piece in the kit. It has a raised lip around the edge of the tool that keeps the teeth from cutting any deeper than flush, so long as both edges contact the part. This makes it super easy to take a gate stub down to almost perfectly flush, and where the big QOL improvement is, is that the lip means that on pieces big enough to be wider than the tool, you can essentially file without having to pay attention on every stroke. Once you don't feel resistance anymore (and don't hear any noise), you're done! The "grit" on the tempered glass file hits that perfect spot where it's coarse enough to remove material fairly quickly, and yet fine enough that the surface finish you're left with is still very clean. Even on darker parts (where you can see scratches easier), it usually only takes a couple passes with the foam balancer/polisher to get it to a glossy surface. The foam balancer is also pretty good (better than the one I got in a cheap Amazon toolkit), but it's not the huge step up that the file is.I've yet to actually try out the polishing cloth. The white side of the balancer seems to do a pretty good job on its own...Overall? Totally worth the price. Though if you only needed one thing, I'd get the narrow file. Massive bang-for-buck!
